At least Corbyn will sort out immigration

Indeed, as in the early 1970s, Britain may enjoy rapid net emigration under Comrade Jezza...

Quite so. I had the same thought about Miliband Minor.

By the way, the new verification is crap. Shown a picture of a sandwich, I then had to select all the pictures with sandwiches in. There was one. A burger bun is NOT a sandwich, nor is a Subway monster. Can't get the staff any more, I guess.

The subtext being: if you are silly enough to vote UKIP in 2020 this is what you'll get...

The next Labour bogeyman is being built up already, to keep Tory voters in line in the same way as with the two-headed Sturgeon/Miliban beastie.

Well 300,000 odd people are already quitting Britain each year - under this government at a rate which is bound to increase as our third world friends arrive in unprecedented numbers. At the Tory's rates of accelerated change we'll be a very different place by the next election.

WHY are we talking about Labour ?

THIS government is awful. Never mind the next.

THIS government is delivering Blairism the likes of which I'd hoped we'd seen the back of

THIS government is the nightmare government.

Corbyn is going to have to be a truly appalling opposition leader to keep the heat of the Tories for five years.

I don't think UKIP was mentioned, but let me just re-read the post ;-)

I just don't understand, Blue. The obsession with Labour.

The Tories are in - for five years. Why is the focus on Labour and not getting down and dirty with the EU ? Is it to have something worse to point to than themselves now that the LibDem cover has gone ? I'm feeling (and I'm not referring to you here) a spot of de ja vu. That the Tories are continually pushing the 'if you don't vote for us it will be worse' line rather than actually sorting things out.

It is not because of Labour being a threat but because their voters now have an option - and will not be scared away from voting UKIP in 2020 as they were this year. Not after they find out just how wet Cameron really is.

The word I used was subtext. The message is subliminal and one that I think you are transmitting unwittingly. The whole focus on Labour's woes is being manipulated by media experts to divert attention away from what should be the Government's utter humiliation on immigration - out of control as it has never been before.

It's not as though a mass exodus isn't already taking place. It isn't just Labour that causes this.

The picture is of the construction of the Berlin Wall, fifty years ago. The Berlin Wall was built to keep the citizens of East Germany from emigrating to work in West Germany, because the communist economic policies were failing so rapidly that people were leaving in such numbers that the whole thing was in danger of becoming unviable.

Fifty years later, Labour is in danger of selecting a leader who will repeat the same mistakes if he ever gains power.

This isn't a post about the EU, or UKIP (who have fewer MPs even than the LibDems, and are unlikely to be contesting the next election as HM's Official Opposition).

I quite like the new verification.

Net immigration (the figure Camoron tried to reduce) is "in - out" - generally about 500,000 - 200,000. Those 200,000 are likely to be high-skilled - because most other countries worth living in are fussy about who comes there.

According to Glyn Williams in his 2010 book 'The Knowledge Economy, Language and Culture' there are 700,000 more highly skilled expats in OECD countries than have come to the UK. In 2008 there were more then 3 million Brits living abroad.

"No other nation is losing so many qualified people, it points out. Britain has now lost more than one in 10 of its most skilled citizens, while overall only Mexico has had more people emigrate. Britain's exodus is far higher than any of the OECD's other 29 members. Germany has lost only 860,000 highly-skilled workers, America 410,000 and France 370,000."

So I'm not sure that people getting out of the relatively low-tax (for the wealthy) UK is anything new. It wasn't the tax levels that did it.
