Weekend Reading: More Flammable Material

Did I say inflammatory ..?

Here's an apposite Weekend Reading link.  Immigration policy vs democracy.  For the Observer, it's not bad.

It's on the Guardian, not the observer.

It's the usual pro migration codswallop from the Guardian anyway.

Have a read though the comments

Well according to the Guardian the problem was the fallout over the events in Cologne and not the events themselves.

Oh to be free of clever dicks and their ways with words.

And now the Guardian announces that comments on migration topics will mostly be suspended as "resulting conversations below the line bring very little value but cause consternation and concern among both our readers and our journalists".

Lord B, DJK - yes, I notice they stuck the piece up at 4am, but suspended comments until a moderator arrived ...

CiF commenters are a caution to anyone who believes in universal suffrage

A big problem is that The Evening Standard (formerly a sister to the Daily Mail) now reads like The Guardian.

The metropolitan elite now lives in a bubble of its own.

In what way are CiF commenters a reason to get rid of democracy?

Yeeees. 'Comment is Free - T&cs apply. Subject to Comment being aligned to our editorial policy and not challenging any preconceptions our editorial staff wish to promulgate. Articles about immigration, Islam and race will be limited to 250 strictly pre-moderated comments chosen to reflect the views of our editorial staff.'

They clearly feel quite vulnerable about this - they've commissioned at least four pieces this weekend to defend the censorship.

And the immigration piece? 'We've got a problem - we're meeting resistance to our immigration policies and even getting some pushback from the proles. Lies don't work any more. We need to find a way around this democracy crap to continue'.

Only it's not now permitted to say this in the comments any more, of course.

Lord Blagger

If they are pro EU then they are the reason to get rid of democracy.

QMV means that the Maltese citizen gets 20x the representation that the British citizen does.

I suppose we should really say "flammatory" nowadays.
