John Reid's incurable Communist tendencies.

Arghh. Just as the Airline Industry had taken a stand against the over zealous policing of security at airports, we get this news of ink cartridge bombs being smuggled on cargo planes.

Nothing to do with passengers, but nanny-State fans the BBC have managed to dig up (literally I imagine) John Reid. Ex rubbish Home Secretary and all round Communist authoritarian. Amazingly he says that these terrible events show that we must never relax are guard or get on a plane without a full body cavity search.

Al Qaeda truly are winning when we have such muppets reacting to their every move in this Country.

Spot on - I saw this idiot all over the news channels today claiming that this shows the 'need' to take away even more civil liberties and make air travel for *passengers* even more of a slog than it already is.

This reeks of psy-ops and false-flag. Too conveniently close to Obama's mid-term wipe-out and BAA questioning the nonsensical 'security' process.

Plus a synagogue ordering a printer from Yemen? Really...? "They" are not even bothering to pretend not to insult our intelligence any more.

  3. Tell me, would this the the John Reid who claimed that not a shot would be fired in Afghanistan? Might he be related to the John Reid who during the election campaign of 2005 deferred to Richard and Judy as NHS Secretary to authorise, against advice, the use of an antibiotic busting product in hospitals dealing with MRSA? The poor dear man confused antibiotic with antibacterial. He always has been very confused. I wonder why?

  4. I wonder why?

Chronic confusion and lack of intellectual clarity is a symptom of... cough.

Meanwhile Ms May is apparently no better and is now proposing even more stringent controls on air freight. That'll sort the economy out no end...

There were certainly some truly stupid, and authoritarian, people in the last Labour government. However, John Reid was one of the few who tried to resist the total smoking ban. OK, he failed miserably, but he is an incompetent socialist after all, so I'll still award him 2/10, a high score from me for a Labour politician.

  7. Dear Mr/Mrs Demetrius. I believe that may be the same John Reid of which you speak.

Craig Murray's got a decent take on it all. Hmm.

  8. Hmmm... An interesting and convenient "coincidence" that the discovery of "suspicious packages" should parallel BAA's comments about "security theatre".

  9. Ah the same tough guy who, drunk and loud, whacked a woman at the Tudor Hotel in Airdrie. They breed em hard in Lanarkshire that most corrupt authority ruled over by Bully Boy Reid and his kleptocracy.

  10. Paul Flynn notes that John Reid was appointed a consultant to G4S (Group 4 and Securicor) in 2008 for £50k/year while still an MP: "unusual for such a senior Government figure and sitting MP to work for a company so closely linked to their former department."

So he has an "interest" in pumping-up scares that keep spending on security high.
