I merely note that the euro has gone from 67p, where it was steady for a long time, to around 80p over the past few months which has had the effect of forcing a few of my friends who retired to France seriously considering having to return to the UK as they can no longer afford to lose their �-denominated pension money on such a dwindling exchange rate.
Given the dire positions of some of the euro economies, can we expect to see the strength of the euro decline any time soon? A Malaysian friend tells me that many items from Europe are no longer available in their supermarkets and thinks the reason is probably that the euro has priced them out of range of local consumers so the shops are turning to cheaper suppliers located nearby instead.

yes, the euro has slipped a wee bit against the £ since May, hasn't it, though it's still clearly on the £ up over 2008 as a whole
