Ken Livingstone: A Prediction

Amidst all the talk of Mandelson having gripped the situation, let us observe the familar figure of Ken Livingstone shuttling between the studios, putting in a series of characteristically pugnacious, steely and intelligent ultra-loyalist performances. He's playing a blinder, according to some Labour insiders.

Here's a prediction.

Commissar Ken will be positioning himself assiduously as the authentic voice of sane, electable, never-say-die Labour. He will bag a safe seat (if any there be) in the widespread post-PorkerGate fallout. He will exert himself tirelessly at the GE.

And then ...

When he was banging on about Labour sleaze on the telly, another Labour man (Sheerman?) implied that Ken was pretty sleazy himself.

If useless fucking crooks like Glenys Kinnock and Mandelson can get a plum cabinet position, then why not Livingstone.

My flabber is still well and truly gasted after those announcements. Mind you it will make a big difference as the Tories will gain greatly, so we mustn't grumble really.

Those of us old enough to remember know that at the GLC he was a sleazy, grubby and power mad little odious twat...in fact just like now.

Then he will become Labour's new leader and make the party unelectable for all time.

No, that's Mandelsons job. If Brown did resign Mandelson would be PM. Unelected and not an MP, twice booted out the Government because he is a crook, and left the EU commission before the investigation into his corruption was finished, could be the next, albeit temporary PM.

How very Labour, and bad is that?

Watch for Labour Party rule changes, to see if he does it the same way as he did in the original GLC.

The "Campaign for Labour Party Democracy" had ensured the the London Labour Party had a rule requiring an election for leader immediately after an election. So within 48 hours of an election won by a Labour stalking horse (Harrington, if I remember correctly) Livingslime stood in the necessary election and got the prize of running London, without the chore of having to submit himself to election by the people of London.

Andrew Mackintosh, in fact, Yokel - a decent trad-Labour man and not so much a stalkinghorse (whihc implies he was party to the conspiracy) as a tethered goat

Yes please .... He could be Labour's new Michael Foot.
