Peak oil or Downs Oil?

It is not April 1st yet (more's the pity) but I loved this cracking story out today. Northern Petroleum, a tiny AIM oiler exploration company, has decided it has found amounts of commercially producable oil in the South Downs.

Of course the BBC story gives extra spice by going on ad naueasm about local protesting "NIMBY" like about any drilling or extraction. Credit to the local Council for ignoring such pathetic special pleading.

But this is a good thing, for many years there have been rumours about oil bearing rocks under Windsor and the Castle, in these times of Austerity it is high time the Queen granted some licences and allowed full exploration in Berkshire too. Given the massive Government tax revenues on Oil extraction and sale, I should imagine our not-so-illustrious Business Secretary is wending his way to the Palace right now.

Of all the luck - oil under Bill de Burgh's castle!

Slightly off topic but maybe the Queen could be persuaded to sell off some assets (probably not Windsor Castle but another residence, art works etc) instead of asking for more money in the Civil List since "we are all in it together".

Who's Bill de Burgh - and what's the castle?

What with an heir about to marry a commoner I don't doubt that the Queen is worried about people getting crude at the palace.

Laban, if you type Bilderberg into Google you get 4.65 million hits - read and enjoy. The castle is Windsor as noted in CU's post. The Queen is reputed to be a Bilderberger.
