Hinkley recedes as 4 reactors have life extended

Chart forElectricite de France SA (EDF.PA)
EDF's share price is far below what is was, even in 2008
See here.

Now the Guardian have a bit of form as the distributor of Greenpeace press releases when it comes to energy policy, but the state of EDF itself is a sight to behold.

Last week for example, EDF were told by President Hollande to spend €100 billion on French nuclear projects, that is 5x their current market value.

The Hinkley C project will add another cost equivalent to their entire market value to the slate.

At the same time the French Government is worried about their debt and wants the company to reign in its spending commitments - this is capitalism, French Socialist style.

All in all, with this as the main builder it is so hard to see a way through to the new nuclear plant ever being built in the UK.

So today we find the government magically issuing extensions to 4 of our current plants. This will help keep the lights on as the phrase goes.

Now we just need a dash for gas to actually, finally, have a sensible energy policy forced upon us.

So we wait in hope.

Spend a hundred billion but watch the debt? Hokely dokely - quick meeting, I guess!

Not gas, gas direct is best for homes!

COAL, is the only way out of this mess, security of supply - America is stuffed with the stuff as is Australia (and Russia), we can build new coal plant in two years and online. As I've said before, the green anti coal lobby needs to be told to fork off and rather smartly, like yesterday.

A new, Republican president will end it - the green religion will be dead, get on your knees and pray for said outcome.

Follow the money as they say:

"gyro Hires Former Climate Minister Gregory Barker as its Sustainability Chief"

https://www.gyro.com/press-releases/gyro-hires-former-climate-minister-gregory-barker-as-its-sustainability-chief/

It is also difficult to see what this "chief" can do as this is only 1 of a dozen jobs he has taken on since being elevated.

we go back with Barker, the man is a prize **** with an unhealthy interest in ordure: the very original of Green Crap

from that link you sent, Mr Trough: "Baker [sic] has experienced a wealth of success throughout his career. He oversaw the launch of the world’s first Renewable Heat Incentive as well as delivered the comprehensive reform of the UK electricity sector"

wealth of success ??? - both of them massive failures

x 1000.

The trouble is, the system which allows it to be so.

From it's bottom right to the head, out of both orifices no difference can be detected. The whole world green scam shebang is corrupt beyond imagining, and investment banking, a corporate inspired malpractice on a gargantuan scale - nudged along by £$€billions slush funds, pork barreling, bribery in lowest places, the sock puppets of the NGOs and their useful green idiots: Baker being one of the political type.

But take stiffing the taxpayer out of the equation, there is no green scam, it all goes away in a puff of smoke.

truth to tell, Ravenscar, there was near total pro-green-crap 'political' consensus at the 2010 election

meaning you couldn't find a mainstream party that hadn't signed up for it

the green blob made a lot of hay 2008-2015

Devil's Kitchen got it about right when he said that Government is now done by Amazonian cock fish - once it gets in there and deploys its barbs, it ain't receding any time soon. Government has become a virtue signalling, crowding out mechanism to nudge and cajole whilst its core functions have become wedge issues without structural debate. It's fucking insulting, really.

Coal's the answer in the medium term.

Yet more subsidies available from HMG(OLEV) who say they have no cash!

To help private plug-in vehicle drivers offset some of the upfront cost of the
purchase and installation of a dedicated domestic recharging unit, the Government
is running the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme. Customers who are the
registered keeper, lessee or have primary use of an eligible electric vehicle may
receive up to 75% (capped at £700, inc VAT) off the total capital costs of the
chargepoint and associated installation costs.

And if you don't have an electric car to go with your charge point, they will even help pay up to £4.5K for that too

I watched an item of noos last night about Hydrogen power cars but never was there any mention of just where and who was going to provide all that lovely Hydrogen to power said "Hydrogen cars"....A similar problem with electric noddy toys.

But we know how the EU works, the boys in Berlin will fight it but then the People's car and Bayerische Motor Werke manufacturers - Hitlers golden boys all, will commence to mass manufacture lecky noddy cars and then the boys in Brussels will be informed by the ubermeisters in Berlin to legislate to remove the fossil fueled driven motor vehicle and of course it will heavily involve altering the emissions rools - er like.... you know like, er, just as they did for diesel cars! Emissions legislation to get rid of "old bangers" - what could suit the car industry more?!

Think on, think bigger picture, vote OUT.

What do yout think about ITER project near the Marseille? Is the nuclear fusion a game worth a candle or not? Maybe, renewable energy and wise usage of conventional ones (coal, gas) is better?
