UK Manufacturing success - Rolls-Royce

All ye who say the UK does not produce anything, I give you Rolls-Royce, king of the automotive engine world. Ever prepared for world armageddon, they are upping their factories and investment in the UK as well as getting involved in some timely greenwash chic.

Good to see this.

The FTSE fell for the first time in 11 days today, quite a ride up - I opened a short position for the way down, up 2% so far.

I was thinking about opening a short position when I was trying to get out of bed this morning.

But I opened a long position in Lloyds TSB instead. Everyone keeps telling me to buy Zombie banks for some reason.

Not just you, there's some bloody good fund managers talking them up too. Down £70 on it so far.

Some good news amid the gloom is good to see. Those Trent XWBs are powering on.

SL - I sold LLOY to buy my short. Stilll, the short is out of the money today!

I had lloy from 69 to 85 - enough of a ride for a couple of weeks.

"king of the automotive engine world"

You'd need a friggin' big car to get that engine in.

I think you mean "aviation" world.

The cars are now BMW aren't they? Bentley is VW? Or the other way around, can never remember.

Yup, kings of the jet engine world. And, hopefully, they'll get to build the nuclear power stations that the UK needs (with some French technical assistance).
