Monthly (March 2010) Cityunslicker Trading update

With the FTSE pushing on 18 months highs, below is a table of my current investments and updated price targets with expected time to hold. For interest only of course. Some of these are proving highly volatile, GKP for one! Overall for 2010 so far I am about 12% ahead, not matching last year at all. great things expected this month of PPA, AST, MNR. CHAR has been on a flyer this year, up nearly 80%.

What do you now think of two previous tips Empyrean and African Eagle?
And what do you think of two of mine CDS Oil and Gas, and Skyepharma?

Empyrean I cut out at evens after their latest drilling failure. They are now coming back from a lower level and overall i am annoyed I got greedy, as i was over 50% up at one point.

African Eagle are a nice long-term play, but the funding issues becamse so serious and the placings killed them for the short-term.

For review on my current list, GKP which has funding issues, PPA which needs to get production going asap. AST which needs to hit paydirt in italy on a drill or else I give up.

Skyepharma is a good one, my portfolio definitely needs some non-commods angle, but there is a currency hedge which I like to commods at the moment.

CDS I have not looked into - should I?

ugh! i was diluted out of skyepharma a few years ago. im generally put off by biotech due to their ridiculous cash burn. having worked in a lab, i can see why this happens too.
what about industrials/machinery? who makes the gear for these commodity co's? or who leases it?

I'm thinking more about spending again.

Nice holiday for my 30th, a couple more fishing rods, some summer clothes ...

I've saved hard for a year and now I just want to spend it.

roym - Wier had a good day today, make bits for energy companies and nuclear.

Lots of manufacturing is still private, as the City never liked UK stuff very much - there is Rolls Royce of course.

Yes, you City types have always shafted us metal bashers! Something to do with short-termism I think. The Germans are so much more understanding...
