BBC Question Time competition : Carivale edition

David Dimbleby presents topical debate from King's Lynn. Panellists include Conservative work and pensions secretary Iain Duncan Smith MP, Labour's shadow welfare reform minister Chris Bryant MP, Liberal Democrat Tessa Munt MP, editor of Private Eye Ian Hislop and former leader of the Respect Party Salma Yaqoob, who leads the Hands Off Birmingham Schools campaign group.

looks like a decent lineup.
But if you think I , or anyone else, will watch this over Brazil vs Croatia then you are a politics nerd.

BQ thinks Oscar to get first goal of the tournament with Neymar making it 2-0.
.. oh..wait...

Dimbletie - Brazilian Yellow and green.
Q1. Trojan horses. Schools inspectors and the May/Gove split.
Q2. Passport failures. Why does it take 6 weeks to get a passport?
Q3. Jobless figures. The best ever. Recession is over? Why don't we feel it then? I certainly don't.
Q4. Vince 'house price' Cable. What's his new lunacy? Maximum of 3.5 times mortgage. Actually, that's not too looney. But won't that crash the housing market?
Q5. Water canon. Is something up? A hosepipe ban imminent?

This is decent QT options unfortunately destroyed by Bryant who's absolutely odious. If I was Axelrod and IDS was on the line-up i'd not be popping an instantly disgusting runt up against him - maybe that was the deal?

0) Lilac with lighter blobs
1) I'm going straight in with Iraq - come on the Kurds! Turkey got a bit fruity, the cheeky fucks.
2) Passports
3) Trojan Horses
4) Unemployment, or rather, the lack of it.
5) FIFA

Good luck folks

Tie - green as a pitch with white lines.

1. with the actual Birmingham schools on the panel it must be Trojan schools.

2. Passports. Did Gove lock the passport cupboard to discredit May?

3. Something for Hislop. Fifa corruption?

4. War in the east. Thanks Tony! Fine peace envoy you turned out to be.

With the schools taking up the time probably only 4 questions so I agree with Nick.

{There's something you don't hear much nowadays.}

Tie: Greenery-yallery
1. Iraq, hell in a handcart. What should the West do now?
2. What are Brtish values anyway?
3. Passports. When will the Home Office get a grip?
4. Is it right for the Scottish referendum campaign to be funded by celebs, and what does that say about mass participation politics?
5. Are our expectations more realistic this year for the World Cup?

Steven_L said...

1) Should the home secretary stop sending snotty letters to Mr Gove and sort out this passport mess?

2) Should taxpayers stump up for religious schools?

3) Poisonous baby feeds, is creeping NHS privatisation to blame?

4) Which politician would you most like to see in front of a water cannon?

5) How should England celebrate world cup glory?

Steven_L said...

Oh, and the multiple bugs tie in pink.

1. Iraq or not to Iraq, that is the question? Whether 'tis O'Barmy in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous two terms and you're out?

2. Is anybody actually surprised about the Muslim takeover of schools in areas where Muslims have got rid of the natives? Really?

3. House price rises and BoE bank rate rises? House price boom timed just right for the election, George.

4. World Cup rubbish.

5. Why are women being hanged in India?

measured said...

Evenin’ all

1. Iraq. See what happens when you focus on something else. What a disaster.

2. Sepp won't step down. Should we bribe him to? The costs of the World Cup.

3. Slow benefit payments and the cost of the new systems.

4. Inequality and poor families.

5. Passports. Can’t I go on holiday?

Tie: Luminescent Green

Dimbletie : pink with grey splobs.

Didn't watch so here's the twitter.

First question: Should Britain follow @BarackObama’s lead and keep all options open on Iraq?

Q2: Will Michael Gove's spot checks in schools eliminate extremism?

Q3: Michael Gove speaks about teaching British values. Do they really exist?

Q4: Is the result of the Newark by-election the end of the Lib Dems?

Q5: Is it ever right to arrest the parents because their child is overweight?

You liar, it was "multiple bugs in pink". I guessed the exact tie, that's got to trump the questions and count as an automatic win!

Bill Quango MP said...

bit of a weird question set. Anyway

BQ - 2 {well I got Oscar and Neymar right, so won £100+ from Mr Coral.}

ND - 5+1 for first = 6
DTP - 1/2 a tie = 2 + 4 = 6
Malc - 4
DJK - 4 + 2 for the values spot = 6
Stevie-L 2+1/2 tie =4 {good idea on the NHS - they asked a gove type q twice. idiots.}
Budgie 4 = 1 for the O'Barmy in the mind.
Measured 2 + 2 that sort of came up on twitter answers so 4

Winners were ND and DJK and DTP

prize is to decide if we should intervene in Iraq/Syria with

Soldiers
Airmen
or
an interpretation of war through the medium of modern dance.

Bill Quango MP said...

Are you sure ? Bugs? Looked like splobs to me -

Budgie said...

Modern dance? You really are a square, BQ. What we are all clamouring for at the end of the day, taking the world as a whole, at this moment in time in the global race, is for the DfID to supply ISIS with a ferris wheel for their womenfolk to match the one in Afghanistan. There, don't you feel better already?

Nick Drew said...

the traditional isolationist strategy is the one advocated by many Americans in 1941, viz, "Let The Buggers Fight Each Other To A Standstill"

On this principle we should intervene in Iraq with the 39th 'Human Wave' Brigade of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard

Steven_L said...

It was 'multiple bugs in pink'. It's always bugs after sharks and multiple bugs in pink only ever came with grey bugs.

It's frogs or bees next week. You'll see.
