Tories turned a lot of people militant kipper too. But the leftward lurch will lose them as much as it gains them.
Even if they won back all of Scotland, with they new boundaries, they would not have a majority. Labour lost in England. If they had made more gains in England they would be in power now. with the SNP.
I suspect they will do better than expected. But it won't be enough.
I wouldn't rule out Labour SNP in the future or (as Nick says) anything.
What we are witnessing is the rise of the non-conservative class. The middle class rentiers with no stake - lots of work and responsibilities but no stake. Then there are tne new arrivals. Somehow I can't see them voting Conservative.
Then, of course, is the third world corruption which is ever increasing.
Couple this with the broken promises, the failure to control borders and the economic dip which is bound to take place under the Tories.
I expect the solution to Calais will be an amnesty - followed by a quiet agreement to the free flow of refugees to Britain out of sight of the British people. To keep the peace and to keep such scenes off the news.
This cannot be stopped now. Too much EU, a Blue Labour government, too much broadcast media bias and too many lawyers.
Kev - The interesting stat on that immigration piece was in the link - here it is for you Kev as it supports much of what you claim , re immigration. The numbers of immigrants rocket after 1999.
And socially, what is masked here, is the numbers of UK citizens moving abroad, especially to France and Spain, which was in the millions in the post millennium years. So actual numbers of foreign born people moving to UK is very high, re historical levels. Very high indeed.
The only point to note is so it is in almost all the EU nations too.
When are the Tories going to sort the electoral boundaries - and I mean fairness, not gerrymandering? I'd have thought it would be their first move - they must surely have done the work after 2010, or do they need to plug the 2011 Census results in?
a FEW BY ELECTIONS AND THEY WON'T GET IT THROUGH. GOLDSMITH PROBABLY BE THE FIRST, THEN SOME TROUGHER CAUGHT WITH THE BISHOP. AND ANOTHER WILL MAKE SOME DUMB ARSED RACIST COMMENT ABOUT CALAIS AND HAVE TO BE REMOVED. MAJORITY OF 3 NEXT YEAR.
AND SO ANY TORY MP LIKELY TO LOSE OUT WONT VOTE FOR IT.

Labour will be fine with a lurch to the Left.
In five years the landscape will have changed and they will have a lot more appeal ... with many more to appeal to at the present rates !
Even I'm being turned militant by the Tories

I suspect there are so many 'events' to come between now and 2020, all bets are off
2020 is a long way off. Corbyn might not even make it that long!
Still totally suicidal play by Labour. The supports HAMAS and the IRA for FFS! No UKIP vote to milk with those positions.
Basically mad greens, scots and SWP.
Farcical - but good viewing.
Five years is an awfully long time in politics. We might be out of the EU by then, and then all of Corbyn's ideas might not be illegal!

Why it's a good thing:
1. We need a decent opposition not a pseudo labour Blairite type.
2. I'm with whoever said that Blairism was a virus to be expunged so a lurch to the left is a very good move.
3. Someone with the courage of their convictions is a refreshing change from focus groups.
I'm not a Labour supporter but I do want democracy.
Is it possible to be a rentier without having a stake? If so, please sign me up.
I think EK meant renter.

I hope so, anon !
and I believe so, too - although based on their monstrous cock-up last time around, who knows?
seriously, it is inconceivable they haven't got it in hand ... isn't it?
