Morgan Stanley; 'Don't vote Clegg'

Yup, that is what they are saying today. Weak, coalition governments will be bad for the country and we ned strong leadership next year; so the message is, get out and vote, but only for Tory or Labour. I guess they have not won many friends in the SNP today either.

Quite how they have decided the ratings agencies will downgrade on a whim is beyond me, much as I agree with their sentiment about ot voting yellow. How does Germany or indeed virtually any other European nation get by without huge re-ratings all the time?

Must be so hard for them, lacking a strong, centralist Government, oh wait....Godwin's law...

I have always maintained that there are two simple reasons why anyone with principles should never vote Lib Dem, neither of them party political, just practical.

If the Lib Dems ever got near to power eg in a coalition Government after a hung election result, the price would inevitably be proportional representation. In the UK, this would be evil for two reasons:

1. The Lib Dems would always be in Government; thus a party not usually voted for by around 80% of the population would be given Government power in perpetuity.

2. The more loony fringe parties (think BNP) would regularly win Parliamentary seats.

When I have put this to Lib Dems regularly, they have no answer.

Joined with Labour in the 70's to keep them in power.
Joined with the SDP in the 80(?)'s to try again to get power.
Fecked the SDP well and truly and ruined their chances of getting power.
Has ridden any bandwagon to stay a 'wise' member of the good and great to no effect.
Remains the epitome of Liberal thought in this country: i.e. none.
Only power and a pension beckoned and only one transpired. Why? Because the majority in this country saw Liberals for what they are; chancers.

Why this should change with Clegg(a beneficiary of an EU pension and thus sworn to uphold whatever values the EU decides is in today's menu) escapes me.

STB.

p.s. Looking at Blair over the last few years and Brown over the... I saw a photo, today, of Clegg. Either they are all on prescription or(alternatives) my reading of people has to be severely revised.

There are many reasons not to vote Clegg. December 1st is one of them.
