The C@W Real Economy Index: No Prizes for Guessing ...

Yes, the Yellow Pages has hit the mat again, and it's made an even smaller dent than last time.

So - to the incredible shrinking C@W Real Economy Index. Clearly the shrinkage is not merely in girth this time, it's shrunk in every dimension - by 42% in advertising acreage, our traditional measure (cumulative fall of 56% over twop years), albeit only 28% down in (narrower) column inches of ads (45% cumulative).

I think we know that print media are on the way out. But it certainly doesn't speak to a 1.1%-per-quarter GDP surge, does it ? See Mr Q's notes in the comments here last week.

This speaks more about Yellow Pages sales pitch, than a general picture. Cost per click rates from yell.co.uk just dont match up with the Google alternative. Combine this with the aggressive sales tactic they tried on me.. I hope they really do go down the plughole.

with more and more people getting smartphones, or at least 3g enabled ones we all have google search a couple of button pushes away. the YP is over, destined for the local reference shelf of the library if that

Agreeing with the above, I get a YP through the door and it either goes straight into the recycling or languishes in a pile until it goes into the recycling.
