The Week Just Gets Better

It started well, and isn't it building up nicely !  I'm under no particularly rosy illusions, but as headlines go, these are the ones you want to see.
Victory for David Cameron as EU budget faces cuts for first time in history
Yes, throwing up all the Euro-cards is going to yield the who-knows-what benefits for quite a while to come, if Cameron plays his own hand well.

OK, a big 'if', and I already said I'm under no illusions - but we gotta work with what we have.  So - here's hoping for a cracker at Landsdowne Road.  Have a great weekend !

What if the EU Parliament rejects it in secret session?

It's not an effing victory. The EU may eventually end up with a lower official budget;and the likes of Mr Cameron might be able to say 'look what i did for you'. But the reality is that, as I understand things, the European Commission has the ability using other procedures, to extract additional funds from member states regardless of whether those states want to contribute or not. So, I see the events that have just occurred as more smoke and mirrors; more balm for the masses; and meanwhile, the socialists (why don't we just call these bastards communists because that's what they are) with their hands on the reins of power in the EU, will take what they want regardless. The budget hasn't been reduced, it just seems that way.

Betcha the EU finds a way to increase its expenditure nevertheless. Maybe borrowing from Japan.

Don't be so complacent. The EU gets what it wants. This 'budget deal' does not mean anything. Forty years of evidence people.

We have a tiny window where we can get out, because 'reforms' will never ever happen - not our sort of reforms anyway. Five years max before we are sucked into the euro and become part of the New Roman Empire.
