Brexit becomes the Never Ending Story

So, another meh week ahead.

Johnson won't get his election today.

The EU will extend until 31st Jan.

Nothing will really happen, just a rinse and repeat of the past few months.

Parliament won't pass a Boris Brexit and there are too many at risk of losing seats to have an election.

So it seems we are stuck until the EU decide we must leave (hint#; they won't) or we have to have an election (2022).

The only way out is for Boris to no confidence his own Government, a move that will split what is left of his own cabinet and party.

Happy days!

PS The film the Never Ending Story really frightened me as a small child, little did I know it was a 6th sense predictor of what was to come. Many of the characters and plot lines are more realistic than those in the current UK Parliament.

Similar to Belgium a few years ago, with Parliament tying themselves in knots for months* on end, the rest of the country is somehow managing to survive without our overlords passing endless new legislation. Strange that.

Parliament of Fools.

I quite liked the theme music to "never ending story".

What theme music would you put to this parliament.

My suggestion is "Some mothers do have 'em"
Both comedy and despair and slight revulsion in 30s

Laurel and Hardy.

I think the past three years or so have proven that we don't need a parliament half as much as they think we do.

Consequently we should stop paying them with immediate effect. After all,if you hired someone to work for you but they refused to do the work, you'd stop paying them wouldn't you?

A rich vein to be mined there Andrew;

you could have The Dead Kennedys greatest hits-

Chickenshit Conformist
Anarchy for Sale
Triumph of the Swill

from their album, Bedtime For Democracy

Or maybe a little Rage Against The Machine;

Take the Power Back
Settle for Nothing
Know Your Enemy

Slipknot's Duality seems to hit the spot...

I push my fingers into my eyes.
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
But it's made of all the things I have to take
Jesus, it never ends, it works its way inside
If the pain goes on...

I have screamed until my veins collapsed
I've waited as my time's elapsed
Now all I do is live with so much fate
I've wished for this, I've bitched at that
I've left behind this little fact
You cannot kill what you did not create

I've gotta say what I've gotta say
And then I swear I'll go away
But I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise
I guess I'll save the best for last
My future seems like one big past
You're left with me 'cause you left me no choice

I push my fingers into my eyes
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
If the pain goes on,
I'm not gonna make it!

Put me back together
Or separate the skin from bone
Leave me all the pieces
Then you can leave me alone
Tell me the reality is better than the dream
But I found out the hard way,
Nothing is what it seems

I push my fingers into my eyes
It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache
But it's made of all the things I have to take
Jesus, it never ends, it works its way inside
If the pain goes on,
I'm not gonna make it!

All I've got... all I've got is insane... (repeat)

Seems to adequately sum up the whole mess.

Double-speed Commons divisions to the Benny Hill 'chase' soundtrack does it for me.

Has to be “The fix” by Elbow. It sums up our political masters perfectly. It’s all bread and circuses. To be seen to be doing the right thing while fleecing us blind. Nothing will change until we start hanging a few of them. Death concentrates the mind.
Ps @ND wrote a long comment about how England would have to play to beat NZ at the Rugby but was on the wrong version of the c&w so comment went into the ether. Anyways Well Done England. Watching MEN playing with respect, honesty and absolute conviction is an absolute breath of fresh air in these times of treachery and snowflakery.

Looking like we'll get an election between the 9th and 12th of December.

The news is reporting that some xmas sides may be victims of shortages, we shall have no shortage of turkeys though.

Howdy peeps!
Long time no contrarian rant!

Been rather busy of late and dont get to pop in as often, more browse Twitter for headlines and one-liners than time to read blogs...but hey ho....

Some of you might remember I called a hung parliament in 2017....?? No?
Well, I did, on here too.

So heres my take on the current situation - its not definitive and set to change - but this is where I genuinely believe we're heading. As ever its unlikely to be popular with the regulars but.... what can I do?

There will be an election, maybe Dec, maybe Jan...whatever... thing is... and this is the unpopular bit.... Labour will win.
I know it sounds incredible now, but this is what I believe will happen.
Labour win, Labour renegotiation and a 2nd ref on a hokey-cokey, half-in, half-out fudge.

Pure Remain will not will because to do so would cause ructions so a Labour-Lite-Leave will hold the day. The UK may break up because of tacked-on refs in the regions.
Whatever happens, the UK or elements of a former UK will still have elected representatives in EU.

I know many dont like it but this scenario or something very close to it is what will happen.

Ypn
I had £10 on lab forming the next majority govt at 23 to 1 (!!)
Betfair exchange.
I suspect a mis-pricing.

You know the british hate overly confident and over entitled posh boys more than just about anything.
I blame that loss of deference on people not wearing hats anymore. Nothing to doff.

If the Tories can successfully keep the GE as about Brexit, I expect them to win it handily.

However, if it moves from that they'll start losing seats. Raab has already been a handed a list of MPs, Tory and Labour, who can expect a concerted effort to remove them because of their support for IR35 changes.

What will Farage do? He's in a position to do harm to Tory and Labour.

And if we have a cold snap in the run-up, Labour will milk the effect on the NHS for all its worth.

My entirely probably wrong predictions:

Events will happen, and Tory support will start to crater.

Boris will Fuck Up. It's Boris. Self destructive behaviour is his metiere.

Hung parliament will result.

A lot of Labour Leave areas will swing to Tory/BP.

A lot of Tory Remain areas will swing to LibDem.

Labour defenestrate Corbyn in order to form a coalition with LibDems and SNP, who won't tolerate the old fuckwit, and swing to Remain as they'll have already paid the price.

Swinson becomes PM of a mostly Labour cabinet, and successfully revokes Artlcle 50.

There'll be some small scale rioting and at least one attempt (hopefully unsuccessful) on Swinson's life.

There'll be another GE before summer 2020 which will deliver a Labour majority as the Tories will be busy "cleaning house" of Brexiteers, and the LibDems will have fucked something up.

The British public will finally know where they stand with the establishment - as taxable serfs - and far right and far left parties will blossom as a result, and the EU's initial joy at A50 being revoked will become something else as they spot it is a cyanide pill they've just swallowed.
