EU: Federasts Gleefully Jumping on Crisis

The say the EC is full of devious people always waiting for opportunities to offer the unchanging panacea:  "the solution is more Europe, not less Europe!"   And what better opportunity than a full-blown crise?  In fact I seem to recall some proto-federast opining, donkeys years ago: Europe grows, crisis by crisis.  Never let a good one go to waste, eh?

Well they're gleefully jumping all over this one, n'est-ce pas?   Budgetary restraints out of the window; joint militaristic measures;  getting Germany to pay for everything, ... and I'm sure they have a big wish-list of other stuff they'll take the occasion to get through, by ramrod or stealth.

Makes you more glad than ever to be out of it, no?

Incidentally, they'll be watching the highly effective US/UK intelligence effort with much envy.  Couldn't you guys, errrr, let us in on that?  Please ...?

We only managed to escape from the EU because they didn't have an army. This oversight will soon be rectified.

I wonder what will be the language used by the EU forces. Esperanto ?

From Wikipedia, on the army of Autria-Hungary:

"To aid communication between the multitude of ethnicities, the army developed a simple language called Army Slavic, based primarily on Czech."

Let's hark back to Blazing Saddles, and suggest that the EU will speak Authentic EU Gibberish.

So no change, in reality.

And this gent was correct, and is now being slaughtered on all sides for speaking the truth.

Professor John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago is the man who, way back in 2015, said the following:

"The West is leading Ukraine down the primrose path and the end result is that Ukraine is going to get wrecked … What we’re doing is encouraging the Ukrainians to play tough with the Russians. We’re encouraging the Ukrainians to think that they ultimately will become part of the West … And of course the Ukrainians are playing along with this, and the Ukrainians are almost completely unwilling to compromise with the Russians and instead want to pursue a hardline policy. Well as I said to you before, if they do that their country is going to get wrecked."

Sweepstake on the next government induced state of terror and hysteria AFTER Ukraine?

in the USSR, the Red Army developed a simple language based primarily on the use of the старшина's size-10 boot.

"the highly effective US/UK intelligence effort". I think we should take that with a pinch of salt. I reckon Sunak could usefully save a £Bn or two there.

In January 2021 the EU introduced a new mechanism to refuse EU funds to national governments who breach the rule of (EU) law; in March 2021 Poland and Hungary challenged the regulation in the EU Court of Justice; last month the court dismissed Poland and Hungary’s appeal. This morning, the EU Parliament voted 478 to 155 to apply immediate sanctions on the two countries.

Wonder what effect this will have on EU "solidarity in the face of Roosian aggression"

I have NEVER seen such media hysteria in the UK before.

Certainly not over the Falklands, which was actually ours (my then-girlfriend and I seriously considered settling there around 1980). A lot of elite lefties thought it was an left over from colonialism, which in one sense it was. But they were embarrassed by that fact.

Have you forgotten covid already?

This is just a continuation of the same tactics.

I propose Latin: it worked well for centuries last time.

The EU are giving Ukraine (well, some people in Ukraine, anyway), £1.4bn. They'll be able to pay for all those NLAWS !

Unless the UK think Ukraine can win (does anybody?) all they are doing with kit like that is getting more people killed on both sides, or maybe they have Afghanistan 2.0 in mind.

(I sat in the library this morn and read Euan Southby-Tailyour's book on the Marines in Afghanistan, written before the exit. What a senseless waste of human life, both ours and theirs)

This "Conservative" government seem to regard the British army as a set of spare bodies, to help out with whatever problem is hitting the headlines: thus driving fuel tankers, injecting people against covid, now processing Ukranian visas. Heaven forfend that they might have to do any actual fighting to defend British interests. Might be rather difficult anyway, as we seem to have given away all our anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, soon to be followed by most of our anti-aircraft weapons.

Andrews law of headlines:

Over time headlines tend to become more 'hysterical'
until a mass-casualty, violent event happens inside your borders.

Speaking of language - I tought ND had dun a CU wit his speling but it turns out that after nearly 69 years of reading, writing and speaking English that this is the first time I have realised that crisis is plural! :(

Ref EU army talk - much to the EU's chagrin they will all speak English of course.

This was a crisis that the EU (playing NATO's seductress) helped to cause.

So much for it being the best thing for peace in Europe.

Bittersweet announcement but after an amazing 2 years as an infectious disease expert I am moving on.
I am now an expert in no-fly zones and Eastern European affairs.
Excited to make the most of this new opportunity.

Stolen RobbySlowik on twitter. I thought of you lot.

Didn't expect you'd think of a great post like that all by yourself.

Guess you missed the past two years? Somewhere nice? A Pacific island? The Moon?

Number of commentators noted that COVID would be over once the media moved on.

Correct.

In Moscow in 1968, I hugely admired the Red Army's boots. Old school. Could I buy a pair anywhere? Oh no. Mind, people would have sold me their granny for a pair of my Levis...
