More terror inspired attempted murder on the streets of London

There is not much to add to the sum of insight on yet another horribel attack over the weekend. The police clearly knew this guy was a big risk and it looks indeed llike they were actually trying to stop him before he started his attack. Sadly, not quite soon enough but at least they sent on with best wishes to his next life.

One recent peice of information I have had though is in discussions with many people living or working in Saudi. There King Salman is starting a difficult process of change, loosening up the laws where possible to allow music to be played and women to drive; putting in place plans for mass toursim and even looking to legalise alcohol sales in the coutnry.

Clearly, none of this is very popular with the religous police and Wahhabist clerics. Yet being an authoritarian police state is quite handy in these circumstances as the most 'devout' of these have been sent to live abroad now so as not to interfere witth the reforms at home.

However, their favoured destinations are apparetnly London and Birmingham. So a repeat of the 'Londonistan' issues of the 1990's abounds. Lots of religous crazies living here in freedom having been expelled from countries where seen as to extreme.

I note of late we have more islamic inspired knife killings in London and ridiculous protests about sex education outside schools in Birmingham. I suspect a link here and I reall hope the Home Secretarty will leanr their lessons and stop granting visas and asylum to these rabble rousers.

After the show, the rain in Manchester

After last weeks really quite hysterical Labour conference we come to the Conservative conference this week. This should be he main event, not only the Government of the day setting out its agenda, but also this in an age of two party politics, with the Lib Dems now vanquished beyond the point of return.


Unfortunately the first two days of conference have bought us events and tripe.


Events in the sad and bizarre news from America when gun deaths now lead to increases of gun sales and tripe in the performance of Phillip Hammond.


The Government is really struggling to get a real agenda together ex-Brexit. Hammond's speech of all that was wrong with the 1970's was not a patch on BQ's here - he could have at least cribbed some good lines.


Instead we got a litany of how bad things used to be, with no vision of how they will get better. A half-hearted effort on help to buy which continues to ignore the supply side issues in the housing market.


And then Amber Rudd today, announcing stricter controls on sales of acid (which in a odd way, supports the US National Rifle Association, in that bad people will find ways to do harm with whatever they can find?) and banning the viewing terrorist websites. This I find highly questionable as from Labour conference the Tories should all hang and they are pure baby-eating evil - surely when Labour get into power with such a law then viewing Conservative home will be worth 15 years in jail. These laws always get abused the wrong-way round, the focus will be on the odd-lone extremist right-wingers and Nazi terrorism, should there be such a thing, whilst complicated Arabic stuff gets left well alone for fears of racism.


So overall, what a poor show. But nothing else can be expected I guess until May fixes the Brexit deal and then disappears to find the Whisky and revolver.

UKIP Manifesto

In surreal way, the launch of the UKIP manifesto is very well timed today. No doubt the liberal left will be making fun jokes about how horrid it all is....but..

Personally, I have really noticed after the atrocity in Manchester that the debate is very restricted in the UK, with media in particular very, very careful in its political correctness. In part, this is right after all we don't want to make a dreadful situation worse in the current climate.

However, it also quickly extends to any real discussion about what to do. UKIP are the only party that really means it wants to reduce immigration and improve the defences of the country. The Tories are broadly happy with things as they are and Labour want to encourage more immigration and open borders.

Yet nearly everyone I speak to, in hushed tones, asks why we let people back in the country who have been to Syria or Libya on 'extended holidays with family' or 'charity work.' Surely b taking these actions you have forfeited your right to remain in the UK and can have your passport voided so that you can't even board a plane back here.

Other countries don't do this, in Dubai for example, you will vanish straight jail for an indeterminate period and then swiftly be extradited. Tough love, but I see few terror attacks there considering they are a den of western sinners and shame.

Of course, we do it differently in the UK, but I really fear that over the years the authorities continue to rely on the security services whilst not joining the dots on radicalisation and visiting failed Islamic states - the time has come to be far more robust, from the IS perspective this is war, we should treat it as such too. Failure to do so will condemn the country not only to more terror but also to increasing division between muslims and non-muslims.
